Every Seam Queens piece is handmade, and a little care goes a long way. Here's how to keep your items looking their best.
The golden rule: never put anything in the dryer.
Air dry everything, every time. High heat damages fabric, interfacing, hardware, paint, and cork.
Bags (crossbody & totes)
Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap for everyday care — this is the safest choice for every bag we make.
Machine wash delicate is fine for sturdy all-fabric bags (cotton, quilting cotton, denim, flannel, canvas): turn inside out, place in a mesh garment bag, cold water, gentle cycle. Air dry flat and reshape while damp.
Do not machine wash: vinyl or faux-leather bags (wipe clean with a damp cloth instead); bags with bamboo handles; bags with chain straps; or any bag with charms attached — remove charms before washing.
Keychain wristlets
Spot clean or hand wash cold with mild soap, then air dry. The metal hardware doesn't love the washing machine (and your machine won't love it either).
Hand-painted fabric weights
Wipe clean with a slightly damp cloth only. Never submerge in water or machine wash — they're hand-cast, hand-painted, sealed, and finished with cork bottoms, and water will damage the paint and cork.
When in doubt, spot clean.
If you're unsure about a piece, spot cleaning with a damp cloth and mild soap followed by air drying is always safe. Questions? Send us a message — we're happy to help.
